Watercolors

"An important element of a great painting is emotion.  Crucial is the freedom to let go and allow one's feelings to be expressed abstractly through the brushwork with power and bravado, while maintaining control over form and chiaroscuro.

A painting can be beautiful regardless of its topic.     Drawing, compositional design, color, textures, and personal psychological interpretation are essential elements in creating the beautiful passages of a painting.

A painting should be informative in conveying the artist's vision.  Art begins as a creative idea, paint what you know.  Attention to minutiae and the lack of defined form are both crucial to the language of creating great art.

Without proper balance of these elements a painting's quality would diminish."
